Each year, Major League Soccer and Wells Fargo recognize individuals who are using soccer to improve the lives of others. This year, we are proud to announce that Unity Cup Director Bill Salvatore is a nominee for the Community MVP award!

In 2016, Bill led the effort to turn Mayor Jim Kenney’s concept of a World Cup-style tournament into a reality. Ever since then, Bill has:

  • Ensured the best possible experience for the 50+ teams, spectators, and volunteers who participate in the Unity Cup, giving teams and the communities they represent a platform to celebrate their cultures
  • Managed logistics for over 100 tournament matches, a Block Party, and the Parade of Nations
  • Created the Unity Youth League in 2017 to bring free soccer programs to underserved immigrant neighborhoods

Bill has done much more than create a successful soccer tournament; he has amplified the voices of thousands of individuals.

Voting for the 2018 grand prize is open now through August 1 at 2 p.m., and voting is allowed once per day.
