On June 12, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) hosted a wrap-up event for the Unity Youth League. The after-school league is Philadelphia’s version of the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Soccer for Success program.
An outgrowth of the Philadelphia International Unity Cup, the Unity Youth League launched in spring 2017 and takes place during the spring and fall seasons.
This spring, games were played on various days of the weeks at:
- DiSilvestro Playground
- Piccoli Playground
- Mander Playground
- Palmer Playground
- F. J. Myers Recreation Center
- Connell Park
- Feltonville Recreation Center
- Francisville Playground
- Guerin Recreation Center
- James Finnegan Playground
- Lee Cultural Center
- Northern Liberties Recreation Center
- Sacks Playground
- Sturgis Playground
Thanks to Sayre Morris Playground, Myers Recreation Center, and Lee Cultural Center for their participation and for bringing the kids together for this friendly scrimmage to wrap up the season.
The Unity Youth League will return in the fall.
